Famous British writer Salman Rushdie's condition has become serious

Kathmandu - Quoting his representative Andrew Wylie, the BBC wrote, "There is no good news. Salman is on ventilator and is unable to speak.

Rushdie was attacked with a knife at a literary event in America on Friday. A 24-year-old man, Hadi Matar, attacked 75-year-old Rushdie with a knife on his neck and stomach.

He was immediately detained by the police and the security personnel started an investigation. They said that the reason for the attack was not spot.

The doctors involved in the treatment have said that he may lose the sight of one eye as his liver and arm have been amputated. The attacker stabbed 10 to 15 times. Although the wound is serious, the doctor said that it can be cured.

Mixed reaction in Iran

According to news agency AP, Iranians have given a mixed reaction to the attack on novelist Salman Rushdie. Some have praised the attack, while others have expressed concern. The Iranian government is silent.

"I don't know Salman Rushdie, but I am happy to hear that he was attacked after insulting Islam," said Reza Amiri. Amiri says that her book 'Satanic Verses' has tarnished Islam. He is happy that the attackers followed the target of a decades-old fatwa called for his death by the then supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Mahshid Barti, a geography teacher, is worried about the attack on Rushdi. He thinks that the author was attacked to isolate Iran from the world community. He thinks that the Russian attack can distance Iran from Russia and China, which is facing the sanctions of Western countries. Barti said this while pointing to the continued sanctions on Tehran by countries including the United States regarding Iran's nuclear program.

After the Iran-Iraq war of 1980 destroyed the country's economy, Khomeini, who suffered from health complications in the latter half of his life, issued a fatwa against Rusdi in 1989. After a violent uproar in the Muslim world over the Satanic Verses, a death penalty fatwa was issued against him. They concluded that the novel blasphemed the Prophet Muhammad.
